Jadaf Dubai, one of the oldest ship repair yard in the Arabian Gulf area.

Long before the UAE witnessed the remarkable burst of development, the wooden ship building industry existed along the coast of the Emirates. The Middle East has a long standing history of being the central trade route for almost all trade during the ancient times. Dubai was the sole port that catered to the regions ship building needs. Famous areas such as the Shindagha and Ghubaiba have long serviced the region and are now replaced by more upto standard and technologically equipped ports like Jumeirah, Hamriya and more recently Jadaf Dubai.

The late Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum’s prolific mind always focused on ways of making Dubai a trade centre not only for the Gulf, but for the entire Middle East region, Asia and Africa. His strong conviction to culture and traditions motivated him to preserve the antique art of wooden ship building and this initiated the revelation of JADAF DUBAI.
